About Me

Millenium Park, Chicago, Illinois, 2018

Thanks for checking out my website! Here you'll find my experience, qualifications, interests, and aspirations.

Currently, I'm a graduate student at the University of San Francisco's Master of Science in Data science program. I have a strong interest in Natural Language Processing, LLM's, and generative models. I'm also interning part-time as a data scientist at Pendulum, working on Turkish and multilingual language models realted to risk intelligence. I'm currently looking for job opportunities in San Francisco or the general Bay Area.

I have experience in data analytics, visualizations, monitoring stacks, machine learning, and natural language processing. I consider my greatest strengths to be adaptability and being able to break down problems into simpler terms.

I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Industrial Engineering. I took a variety of computer science and statistics courses after I decided to pivot into a career in data science. After graduating, I returned to Istanbul and worked as a Data Scientist for two years at TurkNet, one of the largest internet providers in Turkey.

As someone of mixed heritage, I am also a big advocate of cultural identity. I've both been blessed with many positives and experienced hardships because of my Turkish-Taiwanese background. Because of this, I try to actively keep these virtues in mind for both my career and personal life.

I primarily work in Python, and SQL. For Natural Language Processing tasks, I use mostly HuggingFace with PyTorch. I also have a variety of other skills that I've used for work and personal projects. You can find a more detailed account of my experiences and skills in my resume, which you can download below:

Additionally, I'll pursue personal side projects related to data science and machine learning in my spare time. I've done a few projects ranging from data visualizations to AI's powered by deep learning. I make an effort to regularly document these projects and you can find them on my GitHub and blog.
